About Rosalinde Bakker

Rosalinde Bakker is a Dutch conceptual artist active since 1989, with her first exhibition on women’s day at Odion Rotterdam. After that she gave many exhibitions in the Netherlands group and solo and got commissions for public 2D and 3D art.

Rosalinde works with tenderness on studies and art pieces. Slowly but steady the pieces grow to a climax. All possible variants and variations are kept open for a prolonged time, not from a wavering insecurity , but from a wide interest in the character and the interconnection of things. Her pieces of art show an affection with society, a touching ''document humane'' which poses hopeful questions. The artworks are illustrations of both autonomous and contemporary visual art which come to life in their own primordial way.

Her style is characterized by research, society and deep devotion for the essence of what art is by asking questions rather than offering answers: What is art? What is good art? And what makes art? Being a conceptual artist means she uses a broad variation of materials, mediums and themes. Rosalinde is always pitching on new subjects, series and reaching for new horizons. Feeling as free in 2D as in 3D.

All of her works are signed with the abbreviation ‘ARB’, which stands for Astrid Rosalinde Bakker, her full birthname.
